The Apostleship of Prayer Column – August 2025

If we want to know someone well, we must meet them. That is why we must also encounter the God who comes. I can meet Him in the Word, in another person, and within my own heart. If I want to meet God, I need an open heart: this means that I invite Him into my own life. A person who opens themselves to God experiences deep peace and joy.

Our encounters with the living God transform not only us but also our surroundings. Jesus patiently prepares us to be His missionaries. Before sending us the Holy Spirit, He wants us to understand what our mission is in the world. That is why Jesus prayed to the Father for us: “I do not pray for these only, but also for those who believe in me through their word” (John 17:20).

When I let someone enter my heart, I am there to receive them. Likewise, the one who comes into my heart is there to receive me. Mutuality is essential. God is ready.

But what about me? We often forget that God remains in us and that we must take care of Him. It is important that we long for God. The path of a human being to God is an open heart and a responsible life. It is sometimes a bumpy road, full of twists, doubts, and difficult choices. My life is always a road to heaven when I walk it with Jesus.

Let us pray…

August
We pray for societies in which coexistence between different groups is weakened, that they may not succumb to confrontation on ethnic, political, religious, or ideological grounds.

September
We pray that, inspired by Saint Francis, we may experience our mutual dependence on all created beings, loved by God and worthy of love and respect.
