During the visit of the ecumenical delegation to the Embassy of Finland to Italy in Rome in January, Finland’s Ambassador to the Holy See, Sirpa Oksanen, presented Prelate Tuomo T. Vimpari with the Commander of the Order of the Lion of Finland, conferred by the President of the Republic, Alexander Stubb. The decoration was awarded in recognition of Vimpari’s long-standing and meritorious service in promoting relations between Finland and the Holy See.
In its press release, the Embassy of Finland in Italy noted that Prelate Vimpari is the only Finn serving in the administration of the Holy See. At various stages of his career, he has maintained close contact with Finnish diplomats and has contributed to opening up the work and thinking of the Holy See from a Finnish perspective. The decoration is a valuable recognition of this long-term work marked by trust-building and dedication.
Prelate Vimpari currently serves as Undersecretary of the Dicastery for Legislative Texts at the Vatican.
