Pope Leo’s Apostolic Journey to Türkiye and Lebanon

Pope Leo XIV will embark on a six‑day apostolic journey to Türkiye and Lebanon beginning on 27 November.

The spiritual and ecumenical highlight of the trip will be a prayer service in İznik – ancient Nicaea – commemorating the First Ecumenical Council held there 1,700 years ago.

In Türkiye, the Holy Father will meet civil and ecclesial leaders, including President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, Bartholomew, and will celebrate Mass in Istanbul.

In Lebanon, the Pope will meet political and religious leaders, young people and representatives of the local parishes. The program also includes a prayer moment in the Port of Beirut, where the 2020 explosion left deep scars on the city.

The journey is hoped to strengthen Christian unity, interreligious dialogue and to bring hope to communities living amid great difficulties.
