Pastoral Visitation in Turku under the Patronage of Blessed Hemming

The pastoral visitation of Bishop Raimo to Saint Bridget’s and Blessed Hemming’s Parish in Turku took place on 16–17 May 2026. The visit coincided with the parish novena in honour of Blessed Hemming, which is why the bishop also participated in the Friday evening programme as well as the Holy Masses celebrated on Saturday and Sunday. Following each Mass, Eucharistic adoration was held, during which the novena and litany of Blessed Hemming were prayed.

During his visit, Bishop Raimo met with members of the Parish Council and the Finance Council. He also spoke with the parish catechists, who carry out valuable work in the catechetical formation of children. In addition, the bishop visited the sick and met with young people of the parish.

Particularly after Sunday Mass, Bishop Raimo had the opportunity to meet parishioners, who greeted him warmly and joyfully.

Bishop Raimo’s visits often leave parishes with a sense of encouragement and renewed hope. In Turku as well, his presence conveyed joy in the faith and confidence that the Church in the Diocese of Helsinki continues to grow and bear good fruit. The visitation took place in a joyful atmosphere truly reflecting the spirit of the Easter season.

The parish prepared for the feast of Blessed Hemming by celebrating a novena from 13 May until 21 May. Parishioners participated every day, and the bishop joined them for two of those days. On the feast day of Blessed Hemming, 22 May, the parish celebrated its second patron saint with joy and well-prepared hearts.

Blessed Hemming, pray for us!
