During the spring meeting of the Nordic Bishops’ Conference in 2026, the bishops also met with those responsible for catechetical work in the dioceses of the Nordic countries. Following the meeting, the bishops issued a statement expressing their gratitude to all who take part in catechetical ministry:
“The Nordic Bishops’ Conference wishes to express its deep gratitude to all catechists, assistant catechists, priests, and members of religious communities who faithfully work to pass on the faith in our dioceses.”
The bishops also recalled the central importance of evangelization and the Church’s missionary mission:
“Mindful that the task of evangelization and missionary outreach is of decisive importance, the Bishops’ Conference encourages all the faithful to take part in this work, which forms an essential part of the baptismal vocation of every Christian.”
The Nordic Catechetical Conference coordinates catechetical work in the dioceses of the Nordic countries. During the meeting, the bishops received an overview of the current situation and development of catechetical ministry across the different Nordic countries.
