Consecration during corona pandemic

Consecration of the Diocese of Helsinki and Finland to the Immaculate Heart of Mary during the Corona pandemic 25.3.2020.

Lord Jesus Christ, present among us in the Blessed Sacrament, as you were dying on the Cross in great torment, you gave us your Mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary, as our Mother. At the same moment, you commended us to her as children.

Today, with all our mind and heart, we wish to confirm filial devotion to her and to accept your Mother as our Mother. We also wish to commend to her – as to our Mother – ourselves and the whole of Finland.

Accept this consecration as an act of worship to you in the unity of the Father and the Holy Spirit. We also humbly ask you to show us to your Mother as her children.

Lord Jesus Christ, we believe it to be your will that we venerate your Mother for her Immaculate Conception, her divine motherhood, her purity and unwavering faith, her taking part in your passion and her care for your holy Church. We also believe that she by your will acts as Mediatrix of all graces.

Enlivened by grace, we turn ourselves to her Immaculate Heart in an act of great devotion. We consecrate ourselves in unity with the act of consecration made previously in the name of the whole Church by the pope Pius XII in October 31st, 1942, and later by the pope John Paul II, in Fatima on May 13th, 1982, in the Vatican on March 25th, 1984, and again in Fatima on May 13th, 1991.

Immaculate Virgin Mary, Holy Mother of God, Mother of Christ, Mother of Divine grace, Mother of the Church, Gate of heaven, Refuge of sinners, Comforter of the afflicted, Help of Christians, Queen of Apostles, Queen of Confessors, Queen of peace – and health of the sick! Into the care of the unfathomable and tender love of your Immaculate Heart we commend and subdue our Diocese, its’ earlier Bishops, administrator and all priests, deacons, seminarians, religious, married couples and families, all the faithful.

We also commend to your Immaculate Heart the whole Finland, those in charge of it and all its inhabitants. We hand to you our brother Christians. We commend to you those who confess other religions or none.

– In this exceptional time, above all, we commend to you all those who are ill because of the corona virus, as well as their carers and families. To your care, Mother, we entrust also those who, during these weeks, have to stretch to the extreme both in their jobs and at home, and those, who are at risk to experience financial distress due to the corona pandemic.

O most holy Mother, we commend to you our hearts and minds. We give you our Christian lives and our salvation. We commend to you our faith, hope and charity. We commend to you our fulfilment of the Divine Commandments and Church precepts. To you we commend our fidelity to the Church and to the Holy Father. We ask you humbly, o most Holy Mother, accept our devotion and show us your motherly love and care.

We humbly bring to your Immaculate Heart our heartfelt requests: may the Kingdom of your Son take rule over the inhabitants of Finland. May faith in the One God, the Holy Trinity, blossom in our country. May Gospel truth conquer the hearts of men. May all live up to their dignity as children of God. May priests and religious be faithful to their holy vocation; may they be zealous witnesses of the Gospel and Church teaching! May spouses and family members also be faithful to their vocation. May all those who work for the society and in politics in our country fulfil their duties in the spirit of truth.

Mother, to your Immaculate Heart we bring our prayer: purify our way that leads to your Son from all evil and sin. May your foot crush the head of the prince of darkness and may he lose his ability to mislead human hearts. In your motherly love, protect all inhabitants of our country from devil’s temptations and, in the end, from eternal damnation. Obtain mercy for us from your Son.

Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.
