Bishop’s Episcopal Ordination Day Marked in Karis

On the evening of Tuesday, November 25, the Memorial of Saint Catherine of Alexandria was again marked at her namesake church in Karis after a break of a couple of years.

The Traditional Latin Mass was celebrated by Father Anders Hamberg.

Two years ago, it was settled with the local Lutheran parish that the Saint’s Day would be marked with a Catholic Mass in the Medieval and originally Catholic church, as had become a custom, but instead Raimo Goyarrola was ordained bishop at St John’s Church in Helsinki, which meant that year’s plans for a Mass in Karis were shelved.

This year, however, St Catherine’s Church again witnessed a Mass. And naturally, since November 25 is now not just Saint Catherine’s Day, but the Episcopal Ordination Day of the bishop, particular prayers were said for him during the Mass.
