“Joseph Ratzinger and Europe” – Helsinki conference explores the Thought of Pope Benedict XVI

A conference on the thought of Joseph Ratzinger/Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI will take place at the Cultural Centre Sofia in Helsinki on June 3-5, 2022, co-organized by Sofia, Studium Catholicum, and Dr. Emil Anton.

The keynote speaker, Professor Tracey Rowland from the University of Notre Dame, Australia, will speak on Friday evening at 6 pm on “Joseph Ratzinger and Europe”, whereas the other Australian guest speaker, Dr Peter McGregor, will speak on Saturday about Joseph Ratzinger’s “Anthropology of the Heart”. Fr. Oskari Juurikkala will deliver a paper on Sunday on Pope Benedict’s use of the metaphor of the “Book of Nature”. In addition to these, several international scholars will join the conference via Zoom to give their presentations.

The conference will open with a Mass at 2.30 pm and an introductory lecture at 4 pm (Dr Emil Anton). The academic sessions are free of charge and open to the public.
