Diocesan Administrator elected
On Monday, May 27, the College of Consultors of the Diocese of Helsinki has chosen a Diocesan Administrator to take care of the Diocese until the nomination of a new Bishop of Helsinki.
The Consultors elected to this office Rev. Fr. Marco Pasinato, parish priest of Saint Henry’s Cathedral parish. Fr. Pasinato, who belongs to the community of the Neocatechumenal Way, was born 1980, and ordained priest 2010. He is expected to continue his work as parish priest until the end of August, when Fr. Jean Claude Kabeza will replace him. Fr. Pasinato then continues to be rector of the Redemptoris Mater -seminary.
The see of Helsinki became vacant a week ago, as the resignation of the now Bishop emeritus of Helsinki, Msgr Teemu Sippo S.C.I. was made public in the Vatican and Helsinki.
A Diocesan Administrator is to take care of everyday business in the Diocese under his care until a new bishop is elected. However, he cannot make any bigger changes in the life and practices of the Diocese.
Let us all pray for our Diocese, for the Diocesan Administrator, and ask God in his wisdom to find a good new Bishop for the Diocese.
