A pilgrimage organized by the Finnish Ecumenical Council is currently taking place in Turkey in honor of the 1700th anniversary of the First Council of Nicaea, from 19 to 26 May. The group is led by Emil Anton and the Reverend Heikki Huttunen. Bishop Raimo Goyarrola of Helsinki is also participating in the pilgrimage.
Later this week, Archbishop Elia of the Orthodox Church of Finland will arrive in Constantinople (Istanbul), where he will join the pilgrims on Sunday, 25 May, for a patriarchal liturgy at the main sanctuary of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. After the liturgy, Archbishop Elia and Bishop Raimo will meet with Patriarch Bartholomew.
